This sculpture was inspired by the novel "The Turn of the Screw" by Henry James. Miss Jessel is a ghost that appears to a young governess, materializing across a lake on her employers estate.

The features have been carved in an ambiguous, sketchy manner to further expand on the concept of being an apparition.

There is some question as to whether the apparition is a figment of imagination in the mind of the governess.

This computer generated image was created by the artist to show the piece being viewed across the water, which was how it was portayed in the book.
